Springstep!

In keeping with my commitment to introducing our readers to out-of-the box and wonderful New England wedding venues, I'd like to tell you a bit about Springstep. Last week GENERATIONS cinemastories had the pleasure of participating in (and filming!) an intimate and informative wedding event called the "Savvy Bride's Boutique", held at the beautiful Springstep in Medford. The fun and informative event was created by M&M Elite Planning owner Myriam Michel, who used her vast resources to pull together a great group of professionals from the Boston wedding industry.

For the brides who attended, it provided a rare opportunity to learn tips about planning and hear from both Myriam (who is herself engaged) and a small but significant group of wedding professionals about pitfalls and creative ideas for keeping costs down while keeping spirits up. I personally learned from Leslie at Gordon's Liquors that couples can pay 1/4 the cost of hotel bar/liquor service by ordering from Gordon's on consignment - AND unopened bottles can be returned for refund. That's a huge amount of money to consider when planning a budget for a wedding!

Springstep, which during the day is a community based dance and performance center, is one of the most beautifully designed, multi-floored, modern buildings in the Boston area. Located in Medford, it affords free parking, easy access from the city and suburbs, and proximity to hotels for guests. Springstep also permits event clients to bring in their own lighting, decor, caterers, djs, bands, furniture, and anything else you might want or need at your event. It is a perfect blank canvas with great architecture for any event from a wedding to a special party, bar or bat mitzvah, corporate or non-profit gala. I found myself particularly enchanted by the wonderful flow of the spaces, which would very much contribute to any party atmosphere.
