It shouldn't surprise those who know us here at GENERATIONS cinemastories, that I (Naomi) might write a post about words...

Words are near and dear to this event film maker, who started out on my career path teaching English. Weddings and mitzvahs, and even special birthdays are about words - think of vows, Torah portions and toasts. Oddly, most people think of images when they consider an event cinematographer, which is one key reason why cinematography often misses being one of the top 5 on the wedding wish list. But think about it this way -- what is the one thing a beautiful, sweeping image simply can't capture?

Our clients, typically, love words. They want to remember the special celebrations of their day in the words that were spoken, whispered, and promised throughout the celebration. A special moment can be captured a hundred ways, and sound definitely needs to be one of them. Of course a bride wants to remember the look on her mother's face when seeing her daughter in a wedding dress for the first time, but what about the crack in her voice when she exclaims how beautiful she looks? Wouldn't you want to remember every single word your soon-to-be husband spoke to you during your vows, and be able to watch and re-live that moment for years to come?

Words are at the heart of every great moment in our lives, and they are all too often the hardest for us to grasp in our memories. At a wedding especially people are at their most sentimental, most thoughtful, and the words and memories often come pouring out of them. It would be a shame for those not to be captured.
